On Thursday, October 24, the Providence Redevelopment Agency (PRA) and the Department of Planning and Development (DPD) hosted a community meeting at the historic Bomes Theater to review design ideas for the new Roger Williams Park Gateway Center. During the gathering, design ideas from the five design teams short-listed for the project were unveiled to the community. Attendees then reviewed the designs and provided essential feedback that will inform the final selection process.
Community members unable to attend the October 24 meeting are encouraged to review the designs (available here) and send feedback to Alexis Kievning at Akievning@providenceri.gov. In addition to the attached designs, the public is invited to drop by the Roger Williams Park Boathouse to review design concepts up close and person next week. Drop-in hours are Monday, October 28 to Friday, November 1 from 1:00-4:00 PM, with extended hours Wednesday, October 30 until 6:00 PM.
A winning team will be selected at the Providence Redevelopment board meeting on November 7.
Funded from a RI Housing Acquisition and Revitalization Program grant, and through matching in-kind funds from PRA, DPD and the Providence Parks Department, construction will commence in Summer/Fall 2020 at the Broad Street entrance to the Park.
