Enjoy a Concert under the Sycamore at the Betsey Williams Cottage featuring the trio The Strangs.
Wednesday, September 13, 6pm-7:30pm
Step back in time to listen to music under the beautiful Sycamore and explore the beautifully restored Betsey Williams Cottage. Built in 1773 and was home to Roger Williams’ great-great-great granddaughters, Betsey and Rhoda Williams. Upon her death in 1871, Betsey Williams bequeathed the cottage and 102 acres of surrounding farmland to the city of Providence, which became the foundation of Roger Williams Park.
These outdoor concerts are FREE and open to the public. The cottage opens at 5pm, with the performances beginning at 6pm. Presented by the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium and Roger Williams Park Gateway Center. Bring a chair and enjoy a concert in the park!
ABOUT THE STRANGS: Put three fiddlers together, plus their guitars, mandolins, cello, erhu, & piano, and, well, you have a lot of “strangs”! Long-time southern New England fiddlers, Dan Lanier, Kevin Fallon, & Cathy Clasper-Torch make magic happen when they meld their musical backgrounds into lively & lovely Celtic, folk, bluegrass, swing, songs, sea chanties, waltzes, and more.
