PROVIDENCE, RI – Due to expected snow Friday evening and Saturday, there will be a citywide parking ban beginning at 2:00AM on Saturday, January 29, which will remain in effect until further notice.
Residents with overnight parking passes are advised that they cannot park on the street during the duration of the citywide parking ban. All vehicles parked on the street in violation of the citywide parking ban will be ticketed and towed to ensure that roadways can be plowed.
The Roger Williams Park Botanical Center and Museum of Natural History and Planetarium will also be closed on Saturday, January 29, as well as the North Burial Ground. The Providence Rink at BankNewport City Center will be closed during the day on Saturday. Visitors should check the Rink’s website for reopening announcements.
All Recreation Centers will be closed, and all outdoor recreation center activities will be cancelled on Saturday, January 29.
All Providence Public School Department activities on Saturday, January 29 and Sunday, January 30 are cancelled.
The Department of Public Works has prepared all equipment and personnel to respond to the storm. Roadways will be pretreated ahead of the expected snowfall. Residents are encouraged to prepare for winter weather by following the guidance on the City of Providence’s Snow Ready website.
