Michael A. Calise is the Chief of the Law Department’s Civil Litigation Unit. In addition to overseeing the city’s civil litigation, he represents the city in a variety of matters. During his tenure at the Law Department, he has litigated cases involving municipal liability, the public duty doctrine, and many other issues. Michael is a skilled drafter of legislation and advises a number of city departments on issues that arise daily.
Michael is a Providence native and a graduate of Classical High School. He received a B.S. from Bryant University and a J.D. from New England School of Law.
An aspiring runner and sometimes musician, he enjoys spending time with his wife and their four children.
