The City of Providence is committed to making all residents and community members feel supported at every age and through every stage of life.
Providence is dedicated to making community members feel supported through every stage of life. Providence, and other cities in Rhode Island, joined the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities to follow a multi-year process to become more age-friendly. The Capital City offers a robust slate of senior services and needs your help in understanding areas of strength and areas for growth.
AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities
AARP engages with elected officials, partner organizations and local leaders to guide communities through the age-friendly network’s assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation processes.
They advocate that people of all ages benefit from the adoption of policies and programs that make neighborhoods walkable, feature transportation options, enable access to key services, provide opportunities to participate in community activities, and support housing that’s affordable and adaptable.
AARP highlights that well-designed, age-friendly communities foster economic growth and make for happier, healthier residents of all ages.
