Mayor Jorge O. Elorza today announced his nomination of Providence attorney Jeffrey Dana for the position of City Solicitor.
Dana is an attorney with The Family Law Center of Rhode Island, where he specializes in consumer advocacy cases and housing litigation. He previously worked as a career law clerk to the Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Rhode Island, and with Rhode Island Legal Services. A graduate of Tulane University and Tulane Law School, Dana is admitted to practice law in Rhode Island as well as the US First Circut Court of Appeals and the Federal Bar.
“I am very pleased to nominate Mr. Dana for the position of City Solicitor,” Mayor Elorza said. “Jeff is a talented and widely admired attorney who has dedicated his career to successfully protecting the rights of working families and the most vulnerable members of our community. I am confident that Jeff will be a tireless advocate for the residents of Providence, and will serve our City with great distinction.”
Dana’s nomination now goes before the City Council for confirmation. Mayor Elorza submitted Dana’s nomination to the City Council today, and the Council is expected to begin the review and confirmation process as soon as this week.
“The Solicitor’s office plays a vital role in ensuring that Providence is a city that truly works for all of its residents and businesses, and I am excited about the opportunity to serve the City,” Dana said. “I look forward to the confirmation process and to discussing my vision for the office with members of the City Council.”
