PROVIDENCE, RI — Mayor Jorge O. Elorza was joined by Pete Peterson, Board President of My HomeCourt, Kate McNamara, Executive Director of My HomeCourt, Jamilee Lacy, Director and Chief Curator of Providence College Galleries, Lois Harada, mural artist, Wendy Nilsson, Superintendent of the Providence Parks Department, Harold Starks, My HomeCourt board member, the Undertow Brass Band and community members to unveil the newly-renovated basketball court at Davis Park.
“Parks and recreation facilities are critical spaces to bring our Providence community together,” said Mayor Jorge O. Elorza. “When we combine great parks with beautiful public art, their value and impact only grow. I am proud to continue our partnership with My HomeCourt and the Providence College Galleries to beautify our Providence Parks spaces.”
The court renovation included the installation of artist Lois Harada’s mural, as well as resurfacing the court and upgrading the bleachers, benches and basketball hoops. The project was funded through the City of Providence and funding from My HomeCourt. This is the fourth basketball court renovated through the partnership between My HomeCourt and the Providence Parks Department.
