PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of Providence today announced that it has hired Vision Government Solutions, Inc. to complete its state-mandated revaluation program which is set to begin this week. The reassessment project will establish market value for properties as of December 31, 2018 and will be reflected in the tax bills issued in the summer of 2019.
Revaluation will commence in the northwest area of the city with data collectors visiting all buildings to record exterior measurements and conduct interior inspections. Data collectors will carry a letter of identification from the City’s Assessor’s Office, a photo identification badge and have their cars registered with the Providence Police Department.
Property owners and tenants are respectfully requested to cooperate with data collectors to ensure that accurate information is used in the revaluation process. Any property owners who have questions concerning the revaluation process can contact the Assessor’s Office opened Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm at (401) 680-5229 or by dialing 3-1-1.
The Mayor’s Center for City Services will be issuing notifications to alert residents of revaluation in their neighborhoods through the PVD311 system and on the City’s homepage providenceri.gov throughout the year.
